There’s so much pointless downtime in part 2 you can literally cut like 40%-50% of the games cinematics off and it has no effect on it whatsoever.įor me something that tries to emulate being “deep” when it’s shallow comes across as condescending and smug. The “hate Abby cause of how she killed Joel” isnt true for all, I didn’t like how they killed Joel but I still gave the game the benefit of the doubt and gave it a shot, and was still not impressed but.įor me part 2 was fun to play through but the story was about as shallow as a “other side of the coin” revenge narrative can get, it acts like it’s saying a lot but ends up saying little to nothing, over a very long time. TBH Owen although a bit of a POS (but realistic really) was like the only real believably written character in the entire game imo. Abbies crew were other level of just there boring rando characters. Players come into the game with their own expectations of what the game will be, and some took offense upon finding themselves playing as a new character for between six to ten hours. Abby was just okay to me, I didn’t hate her I just found she got a lot of agency at the expense of other characters, the problem I have is all the characters were boring (including Ellie/Joel/Dina/Jessie) and one dimensional and any time they were starting to shine or be fleshed out it just kind of stopped. Abby is one of the most controversial characters in The Last of Us Part II.
